Scots 'love' holidays in Spain - 02 Jan 2009
Scottish travellers just can't get enough of holidays in Spain, it has been revealed.
Figures released earlier this week by BAA show that 1.2 million Scots travelled to Spain in the last year, with the majority flying to popular villa holiday destinations such as Tenerife, Malaga, Palma and Alicante.
Other countries which made the top ten include France, Ireland, the Netherlands and Egypt, with long-haul destinations such as Dubai also proving popular.
Commenting on the figures, Dan Morrison, a spokesman for BAA Scotland, said: "It seems that Spain is as popular now with Scots as it has ever been, and with the top three most popular countries unchanged from last year, you could argue that we are becoming creatures of habit."
In related news, those considering a villa holiday in Tenerife may be interested to learn that a new stretch of beach has been opened in Adeje.
