Tenerife to become a 'music hotspot' - 09 Dec 2008
The popular villa holiday destination of Tenerife could become a "concert hotspot" in the future, it has been claimed.
British rocker Rod Stewart is rumoured to be performing on the island next year and, according to Canarias Live Sun Festival, which organised the event, a number of other major acts are currently being lined up for 2009 and 2010.
The organisation is confident that Tenerife will become a major international concert destination in the future, Tenerife News reports.
Stewart will follow in the footsteps of Elton John, who performed on the island last year.
The event, which was held at the Costa Adeje Golf Club was hailed as an "outstanding success" and attracted around 25,000 from around the globe.
One of Europe's most popular holiday destinations, Tenerife is home to several popular attractions, such as Teide National Park, the Cliffs of Los Gigantes and the Barranco del Infierno.
