Fuerteventura is a 'tranquil' destination - 28 Nov 2008
Those looking for some good old fashioned peace and quiet on their next villa holiday may wish to consider a trip to the sun-soaked island of Fuerteventura.
Speaking earlier this week, Andreas Caliman, one of seven official tour guides on the island, said there is plenty to enjoy on Fuerteventura, not least the 55 kilometres of unspoilt beaches.
Furthermore, Mr Caliman said the island enjoys over 3,000 hours of sunshine annually and has "special light conditions".
"Many people come here just for the light, it's a kind of light therapy. There really is so much light and I think this is really fascinating about the island," he added.
The island is a "quiet" and "chilled out" place, ideal for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of every day life, Mr Caliman stated.
According to worldtravel.com, the island of Fuerteventura lies on the same latitude as Florida and Mexico and enjoys a similar climate.
