Nurnberg Villas: Regional Information

Nuremburg has a commercial and artistic history going back centuries. Albrecht Dürer worked and created much of his art here, and Germany’s first railway line was opened between Nuremburg and Fuerth. In the seventeenth century the Thirty Years War exhausted the city’s funds, and Napoleon’s invasion only worsened the situation. Nuremburg staged a stellar comeback to prosperity, culminating in that inaugural railway line. Its industrial past is in the process of becoming its technological future, also incorporating a strong tradition as a venue for sports.
As a 2006 World Cup venue, Nuremburg will be looking to cement its reputation as a top class football destination. As well as football, other sports that enjoy a high profile in the city are motor racing, cycle racing and ice hockey. Nuremburg’s football team, FC Nürnberg, is nine times winner of the German football championship. The stadium in Nuremburg is one of the few 2006 World Cup venues to feature an athletics track; it also has installed some environmental measures for the collection of rainwater, that is used to cater for all of the pitch’s sprinkling needs to keep it in top condition for its featured World Cup matches this summer. The new ‘Frankenstadion’ played host to three matches of the FIFA confederations cup last year, seeing performances from top teams such as Germany, Argentina and Brazil.
We can cater for a 2006 World Cup holiday based in or around Nuremburg with some excellent and affordable accommodation options.
