La Rioja is bordered by Navarre, Castile and Leon and Aragon. The region is split into Rioja Alta (which has a mild climate with rainfalls and produces some of the region's best wines),Rioja Baja(which is a hotter and more arid area lying along the banks of the Ebro River) and the mountain area with lush valleys.
Mention the word Rioja and thoughts turn to some of the best red wines produced in Spain. The vine has been exploited here since Roman times and you’ll find a selection of excellent reds, roses and white wines.

RESORTS
The most popular towns to visit are Logrono and Haro.
Logrono
It is the capital of La Rioja and has many stunning buildings like the Catedral de Santa Maria de la Rodonda and the Iglesia de Santa Maria to name a few.
Haro
Come here to sample the wines of La Rioja as this is where the wine experts come every year! Also explore the old quarter and its mansions and famous church.

SHOPPING
The region is also famous for its crafts so if you are out shopping don't forget La Rioja has fine furniture, utensils, wooden carvings, leather goods and colourful ceramics to offer!

Along the way, you’ll find centuries-old churches, monasteries and palaces, plus some odd customs, such as the stilt walkers' dance that is the classic attraction of the medieval village of Anguiano on June 22nd.
'La Vendimia', a famous wine tasting festival, takes place in Logrono on September 21st.
An authentic wine battle 'La Batalla del Vino' is held in Haro on June 29th.
