On the beach in the Algarve

The beaches and lagoons will be a true highlight when staying in your Algarve holiday villa. The seemingly endless stretches of golden beaches provide the perfect locations for swimming, water-sports or simply taking in the sun. The rugged coastline is home to numerous secluded coves, providing the perfect peaceful retreat, near to your Algarve holiday villa.

Activities when in your Algarve holiday villa

The Algarve is home to 30 high class golf courses, attracting golfers from all over the world. There are also a number of good riding centres and great watersports facilities for your enjoyment when staying at an Algarve holiday villa.

What to See & Do on Algarve Villa Holidays

The Eastern Algarve is blessed with fantastic coastal resorts and delightful countryside landscapes, rich in dunes and wildlife with fascinating towns.
The town of Tavira is an undisputed highlight for enjoying when staying in an Algarve holiday villa. The river Gilhão that runs through the town is spanned by a mighty seven-arched Roman bridge and the river banks are lined with lively restaurants. A short boat ride will take you out to the tranquil beaches of Tavira Island. Small galleries and craft shops line the streets providing real interest to it's visitor.

The imposing Castro Marim is another reminder of the Algarve’s rich history. The surrounding area is a protected natural reserve and its salt pans and marshes are feeding and breeding grounds for many species of water bird. There is so much to enjoy on your Algarve holiday. Villa holidays also provide freedom to explore as you wish, with a great base.

Faro is famed for its old walled town, quiet cobbled streets and 16th century facades. 16 km northwest of Faro is the vibrant and typically Algarvean market town of Loule, an ancient town with narrow cobbled streets and fine local crafts.

Western Algarve Holiday Villas

The Algarve's west coast is a dramatic series of cliffs, home to some of Portugal’s finest but lesser known beaches, as well as many fishing villages.

Lagos, elegantly adorned with smart 18th and 19th Century townhouses is one of the Algarve's oldest and most interesting towns. Well known for its marina and fishing harbour, Lagos is an enchanting base for exploring the region when staying in your Algarve holiday villa. Its relaxed atmosphere, quiet charm and small sandy coves make it an appealing location to visitors. The open-air cafés in Praça da República are a great place to watch the world go by.

Stretching away into the far distance, opposite the fishing harbour below Lagos' little fortress, is Meia Praia, a magnificent curving sweep of golden sand dunes leading into shallow water, backed by rolling farmland and the misty hills of Monchique.

Further west again, are Luz, Salema and Burgau, little fishing villages with superb sandy beaches. In Salema, the narrow cobbled streets, the fishermens' cottages, the local bars and restaurants have a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, ensuring that your stay in your Algarve holiday villa is a most agreeable one.
